100th day of school!

There was a little miss-communication around these parts last week as Miss A talked up the 100th day of school like the fairy godmother herself was coming to give her a unicorn so she could ride to the  Pinkalicious themed ball in a strapless dress.  I wasn't quite sure what all the enthusiasm was about but smiled as she told everyone who would listen about how important this celebration was.  She basically told me that tomorrow is the 100th day of school for three weeks.  I finally had to email her teacher to get the non six year old filtered information.  When the day finally arrived I whipped up some special pancakes and we sorted crayons and glued small poems on each color.  There were 100th day cookies and 100th day glasses and Daddy made sure to give her 100 kisses (after she had to convince him not to give her 100 spankings) on his way out the door.
Finally a light went on when I heard her telling Ian how much she's going to love the 1st grade.  I asked a few questions and realized that she thought this was the last day of kindergarten and that she would be going to first grade tomorrow.  It's not that she hates kindergarten, it's probably just because she thought she would be one grade closer to bff John (who's in 2nd grade).  So we celebrated with a little bit of a heavy heart and mommy made a note to self about investigating all our happy dances.

Sorry you didn't understand baby girl...and I'm sorry I didn't have the time (or upper body strength) to put your hair in 100 braids, or let you bring 100, hundred dollar bills to class.  You're still my pookie- wookie 10 times 10.
